Adlib Software Expanding Workforce

Local software company expands workforce despite economic slowdown south of the border

Burlington, Ontario – March 18, 2008 – Burlington based software company, Adlib Software, recently announced a hiring spree to fill 14 open positions for its office on the South Service Road to expand its resources in order to meet the growing global demand for its document transformation applications. Adlib Software recently hit local and regional area newspaper publications with advertisements recruiting 14 new positions for its Burlington office.

Adlib Software is considered one of the leaders in the document conversion, recognition and publishing field. Its products are being used by over 5000 companies in over 40 countries. “Our global reach allows us to ride out the typical fluctuations in a particular market, similar to what we are seeing in the United States right now”, said Peter Duff, President, CEO and co-founder of Adlib Software. “Without a doubt when the American market takes a dip we feel it. But the rest of the world seems to be doing very well for us”. Ideally situated in the golden horseshoe, Burlington’s Adlib Software believes there is a wealth of  the talent in the area.

Adlib Software already employs close to 50 people but the company’s growth and product demand has resulted in a need to grow the payroll by another 30%. Positions being filled include rolls in development, sales, marketing, product management and the IT department. Growth for the company has come from diversifying geographically in addition to  customer demographics. Henry Friesen, VP Human Resourses said it this way, “We have several divisions within our sales organization. We have teams that sell directly to corporate customers such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare, legal, manufacturing and engineering companies as well as to other software companies that embed our technology into their own software offering”. Friesen went on to say, “We are also actively selling through an international channel of Value Added Resellers and Systems Integrators that traditionally sell at a local regional level”.

On a local note, over 75% of Adlib Software’s employees live in the local area. Adlib prides itself on being a local Burlington business. All three founders of the business are local residents. “We were initially tempted to start our office in Toronto to take advantage of the vast pool of talent and the prestige of having a Toronto address”, said Duff. “But we’ve found that there are a lot of great people here in Burlington and the surrounding area and they are motivated to come to work with us because they no longer have to commute to the downtown core or up to the Airport, which are typically the two major hubs for technology companies in the GTA.”

Adlib has had offices in Burlington for the last 10 years and doesn’t expect to leave any time soon. “We’ve moved twice in the last few years due to our continued growth but we have never considered moving out of the local area” commented Friesen. “We’re really pleased with the recruitment response and it’s not surprising that a lot of the people that we are interviewing currently work in the Toronto core. Toronto’s loss is our gain. The skills and experience of the collective pool is extremely impressive and we intend to take advantage of it”.
